The history of the gods
Once upon a time, there were 3 different groups of humans. No one really knows when that was, because it's ten thousands or even more years ago. All we know comes from ancient books from the Strangers, who were neutral in the battle between the Wizards and Knights. The Strangers were kind people and lived in the lands where the Wizards and Knights battled. They used to talk to the trees and water to gain their now famous wisdom. Since the knights nor The Wizards could read or write, they keep records of the past in a giant Library. So all we know comes from them. Also, the first god was born out of the spirit of the oldest and wisest Stranger known. They say when he died, his spirit went to the Tartarus at first, but he fought himself as the first man to Heaven, the place where the (good) Gods live. He found some kind of orb, which gave him extraordinary powers. The most important of those powers was that he could choose minor gods from all 3 sides. The only problem was that it was restricted to just 10 of them. At first, those minor gods weren't really gods, but more something like servants, since the first God still had all of the power. This went on for almost one thousand year, till he was assassinated by some of the minor gods or maybe even one of them, it still isn't known who did it, some say it was the God of Death, Mortuus, who killed him. When this happened, the orb shattered into 10 pieces, each one of them attaches to one of the minor gods, giving them the power over something. Since then The Eternal Battle goes on between the 'Evil' Gods and the 'Good' Gods…
The Legend of the God of Gods
It is believed by some people, there will be once more such a man who fights himself to heaven and takes all of the powers back. That man is to believed a Stranger, even older and wiser then the first. However, most of the people believe there is no such man, although there were people who claimed they were. But they all got murdered by disbelievers, a few by believers who wanted to fasten the process. One was even killed by Mortuus himself, who wants to take the World of Gods, Heaven, in his grasp, and that's where the eternal battle starts…
The Assassination
Although most of the people and gods think Mortuus killed the Übergod, It's never proven to be true. All they know is they all went to bed after the daily meeting about what they did that day and what they should do the next day. They were really busy making peace on earth, since the Wizards and Knights were still fighting each other. The next day they found him dead in the meeting room. Everything was shattered and broken and there was blood and gore all over the place. In the middle was the dead god. But whoever wanted his power, the Orb had foreseen this, and shattered in 10 pieces, and giving each minor god an individual power and a new name, the old names are forgotten. They all got the power that belonged to the reason why they were chosen to be a minor god and get eternal life. Then they argued who of them killed the god, dividing them in 2 camps, 1 who thought Mortuus did it because he was pure evil and Ignis should follow him up, because he was the most honorable of the gods. But some of them actually knew Mortuus did it, but they wanted him to follow him up for the reason he was the strongest, or at least, so they tell…

On one day, the day before he was invited to heaven, he was able to resurrect a dead knight to life, but he had no soul. To do that, he needed more power, and Übergod gave it to him to fulfill his research. Even now it's his most important things to do, since he still isn't finished. When she saw the beauty of the white, shining substance, and found out it was quite hard to break, she decided it would make the perfect weapon to take out the knights. She finished her research in 100 years, from when she could pass it on to the other students. With her powers, she mostly heats up the fight between the knights and wizards, which isn't the meaning of the gods.
Eternal Battle
First Meeting
After they found Über dead, they decided to sleep till dawn and then have a long meeting about what to do next. They placed the orb on the statue and left the room. In the night the orb shattered with no sound and placed a piece of it in every one of them. The next day they were all sitting at the big, rectangle table, but no one was at the head of the table. The first hours no one dared to say anything, the only sound heard was the sniffing of Cael, because she was just a child and Über has been a great mentor for her. At last, after who knows how much time had passed, Ignis said: "I want to know who has killed him", no one said something. Mortuus slowly stood up, looking at all of them with a look of dead ice. "I killed him" Mortuus said, "I killed him because he cut my power short, as soon as I finished my research on death, I found a way to kill him." All were shocked, even Ignis, who thought he knew Mortuus well enough to know he didn't kill Über. "Then now", Ignis said, "Then we are sorry for Über, but we have to move on. I personally think we should choose someone to guide us till a new Über has risen. Mortuus just laughed, "Fools, you really think I killed him for nothing? I killed him because I was planning on taking the power, and I have that power to have you be my servants". With those words said, he shot a bolt made out of a sort black stars at Ignis, whose wings suddenly protected him. "How", Mortuus said, "How could you survive something like death"? Suddenly they all noticed the orb on the statue was gone. Mortuus, the only one who understood what happened during the night, was frightened. "Still I think I should be the leader, since what's a better power then the power over life and death"? Then they suddenly all shouted trough each other, some gods indeed granted Mortuus power over them, but a few followed Ignis. With those 2 rivaling camps, the war was born. Later on the day, Ignis talked to Mortuus alone. "Mortuus, why did you kill Über, he was a good god and everything was perfect". "Don't let me laugh, Ignis, He held us under his thumb, we were just slaves, maybe even objects, to him. We were here to do research for him. That's the only reason we are here, both of us, all of us. Yes, maybe he did some good stuff, but I wanted more power for us, I did it for all of us." Ignis, who actually, deep in his mind, knew Mortuus was right, said: "You liar, no one of us wanted more power, we were happy the way it was. Look at Cael, what does she have left now, now her mentor is dead." While saying this, tears began to swell up in his eyes. "Mortuus, I have to ask you to leave to the Underworld with your companions, you are no longer welcome here. I'm sorry, but if you don't leave by yourself, I will use force to ban you to the Underworld". Still not impressed, Mortuus agreed: "Okay, we will leave, but eventually we will come back and our battle will become a legendary battle. I will find you, Ignis, and when I have done that, you will be a dead god." With these words said, he walked to his companions and suddenly disappeared. Ignis started setting seals on the door to Heaven, so they will never enter again. While doing this, he thought back to the old times, when Mortuus and he were friends, both interested in the miracle of life:
The Prophecy
"As long as two brothers are alive,
There won't be much death and neither will life"
This chapter starts with this prophecy for a reason, this prophecy is the key to end the endless battle and rule over the world. Or so they believe. With the birth of these children (not actually brothers) the prophecy seemed to happen. When Ignis went to life and Mortuus to death, the prophecy actually happened, and that's the real reason why Über got them to heaven. He was afraid that one of the two (once) best friends would be killed and the world would be unbalanced. Now only Über knew about this prophecy, and later told Ignis, his pupil, about it. Ignis was in his room thinking about his life on earth. There was no way he wanted to go back down, but he thought about his childhood with Mortuus. How they were playing together as kids. All people around the town said they were inseparable. Although, at the age of thirteen, when they were already fooling around with alchemy for 3 years, they actually separated. Ignis wanted to continue his research on life to help people to eventually become the king chosen by the people, but Mortuus, who always wanted strength and power, wanted to research death to make people fear him, and then become the king. That night there was a heavy fight in the labs. Potions, glass and liquids were thrown and fell all over the place. A fire broke out with the 2 of them still fighting. They both looked at each other and Mortuus ran away, freeing himself from the burning flames. Ignis could save himself just in time.
Since then, the never saw each other again, until he came to heaven. They never have spoken a word before. He looked around in his room. It walls were filled with bookcases and his desk was real Stranger mastership. Before him lay papers of his first alchemy experiments. They were written like novels, so no one could read his results. Well the only one actually interested in it was him, but you never knew with the people, and gods, nowadays. He called for nymph, and ordered him to send his angels trough the sky to see if Mortuus isn't going to do anything to the real world. "Use as much as you need, but I want to make sure we overlook anything, he may not go anywhere where he wants".
He then called for Caeli. "I want you to make the sky dark with clouds, so the angels cannot be seen by human or even godly eyes" He sent them away and thought his plans over. He would see were the entrance to the Underworld was, and when the time was right, he would strike and destroy it.
He would kill Mortuus no matter what for what he has done to his mentor. Tears filled his eyes: "That it would come to this, brother" he spoke to himself. "I hope you understand, but I'll have to kill you"
In another room Nate and Undae were drinking. They discussed about what to do. Winter was coming and each time they were having the same discussion. Since they were both a bit drunk Undae shouted: "Maybe I could have one part of the year if you weren't so selfish. Nature isn't everything, you know". "But nature is the most beautiful thing in the world, why would you want to destroy it with your coldness?" and so it went on and on, like each year…
That was the last thing he heard. He then walked to the door in to the only piece of wall that wasn't covered and went to his bedroom.
He undressed and jumped in bed, and fell asleep in the light of the moon.
